Um... yea...
So today I'm at Lowes buying some supplies and hardware needed to build my dolly and track (v1.0 completed today needs some tweaks, which I will do tomorrow). Anyway, I leave and start loading the stuff up in my car when I'm approached by a relatively young and mildly attractive blond woman (with some sort of accent, I couldn't place it though) pushing a stroller with a baby in it... at least, I assume there was a baby since I never actually saw it.
Anyway, she proceeds to give me a sob story (and being from LA my bullshit meter is already sounding the klaxons and flashing the red sirens) in the softest voice I've ever heard. She said basically something along the lines of "I need help, I have no money after spending my last paycheck on rent, I'd lile to borrow money for groceries, I'll pay you back and give you all my contact info, etc". Now, during all this I was on the phone and didn't really devote my attention to what she was saying so knowing I had no cash (I hardly ever carry cash) I pretend to dig in my pockets for cash and after coming up empty I tell her I don't have anything and resume my activities. As I'm driving away, my bullshit meter started telling me I made the right choice. Why?
Well... In my mind (and some may disagree), but with a grocery store about 10 minutes away by foot, why wasn't she soliciting there? I mean, it would make logical sense if someone was truly needy and desperate to solicite outside the grocery store asking passerby to buy a loaf of bread and such.
This is like the time when feeling benevolent, I offered to purchase something from the Jack in the Box menu for a woman who asked me for money for food since she was very hungry. Upon hearing my offer, she started stammering and saying how she'd rather have to money so that she could take the bus down to Long Beach and get some food down there.
Fucking crackheads.
