As my people say... “Aiya”!!

Filed under: Main — admin @ 02:03:43 am

So I'm sure what I'm about to say has already been discussed ad nauseum in the blogosphere, but I'm still going to say it...

...MySpace is down for the second day in a row!!

Well, actually, it was up earlier today but I guess the heat overwhelmed their data server or something. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Anyway, it's been about a weeks worth of weird weather here in LA . It's been really hot, really humid, and just generally miserable. Not only that but there have been weird rainless thunderstorms around here. I think the big one is about to hit LA and So. Cal. It's just something in the air that doesn't feel right... it may not be a pending earthquake but I just have this weird feeling in my stomach that some sort of natural disaster or calamity is about to befall us here in the city of angels. I hope I'm wrong though.

In other news, I have found that DIY projects and repairing stuff around the house is actually pretty fun and rewarding. Our kitchen faucet had been leaking for the past two days, and with the hot water turned to the "off" position there was still a steady stream of water that would snake its way out of the faucet. I took the faucet apart earlier tonight and at 9pm made my way over to the Home Depot to pick up some replacement parts. The repair only took 5 minutes and it would've probably cost at least $50 to get a plumber out here to do what I did for $3 worth of parts.

Good times.

Okay this is retarded. Seriously. I need to get a new fucking phone. My phone has apparently been dropping calls or something or not even ringing since sometime yesterday. I just thought that I was being ignored or something! Anyway, I just got done reformatting and syncing the phone up with my computer so I have all my contacts and information on it. And now that it's (supposedly) working again it tells me I have voicemails but when I try to call it I get a message that says that the call could not be completed as dialed. WTF!!

Someone buy me a new phone damnit! Maybe you can buy me this one!

Seriously. Myspace is crack. It's crystal meth. I'm addicted to it and it's not like I even do anything while I'm on that website.

Grr.

Seriously. It's hot.

So last night (Friday) we went to go see the midnight showing of Pirates... it was okay. but I didn't ge thome til 3:40am. I watched Futurama until the last 5 mintues when I finally fell asleep. I had to wake my happy ass up at 6:45am to get to Chino Hills by 8am.

Now... as if running on a little less than 3 hours of sleep isn't bad enough, we went to Chino Hills to help Chris move furniture to his new crib in Palm Springs. The problem with Palm Springs is that it was like 105 degrees today. WTF. Why do people try to live there and shit? Seriously. Yes, I know... they have air conditioning. But fucking a, b, c, and d it's still fucking hot. Their thermostat was set on 80 degrees and everytime I looked it said the interior temp was like 84. That means even with AC it was still 80+ degrees INSIDE!!! Granted, it felt a lot better than OUTSIDE but come on.

So that was the heat. Then there was the moving. We had to unload and assemble and move 60+ pieces of brand new furniture. WTF. 'Twas good exercise and I felt like I might've lost a pound today but with moving all that shit and the heat and the dirt I felt like crap on a pile of crap.

Now I'm tired and I should sleep so I shall.

Holy Shit.

In-n-out is fucking heaven. Now, In-n-out isn't fast food for me... it's a treat to be enjoyed on occasion. And tonight... my hunger made it an occasion. Now, I hadn't had any In-n-out for a few months now but I finally caved tonight. I got a double double animal style combo and at the first bite it felt like there was a party in my mouth and everyone was orgasming. I had almost forgotten how good it tastes compared to all the other fast food crap. And it's even sweeter now that In-n-out takes credit card (yes, I know they've been taking it for awhile now, and that's how long it's been since I'd had any... the last time I went was BEFORE they took credit card).

But here's the thing, eating In-n-out doesn't make me feel like shit. McDonald's on the other hand... well... I'll start by saying I like McDz, but EVERYTIME I eat it I feel like crap afterward. Like... it makes me feel all tired and kind of sick. No other fast food joint does that to me. Fucking McDeez...

Anyway, on another note... I fucking hate the limerance phase. It's something far beyond my control and it drives me crazy. Of course, the more I try to force myself to stop thinking, the more I do.

Damnit.

No matter how intensely reciprocation is desired it cannot simply be asked for. To ask is to risk premature self-disclosure. The interplay is delicate, with the reactions of each person inextricably bound to the behavior of the other.

Damn the mind.

I hate the fact that I'm very preoccupied lately. And it's all because I can't turn a part of my brain off. You know the part of the brain that thinks about something incessantly. And no matter what you do, you can't stop thinking about it. Even if the regular part of your brain is telling you that the thing you're thinking about is made up of that seemingly all-too-common element known as unobtanium.

And this unobtanium; being on my mind; is starting to drastically affect every other part of my daily life, especially my business... and I'm finding it hard to concentrate on the task at hand at times because the unobtanium (like a tumor) is occupying such a large portion of my thoughts.

No... I can't let something like this get to me. I can't.

It's the Fourth!

Ahh... the smell of searing meat and burning charcoal is in the air and the sounds of fireworks can be heard all around. Throw in some flags, some parades, beer, and you know that it's the Fourth of July.

That being said, last night was a blast. It was Steph's birthday and we decided to go karaoke and drinking. At first, we thought we would be able to drink at the karaoke place but it didn't serve alcohol!!

But even without the assistance of libations everyone had a great time singing and acting like a fool... except for Doc. No matter what we could not get that man to sing and EVERYONE sang at least 3 songs or so. He thinks he's too cool for that shit or something.

3 hours later, at half past midnight we decided we had karaoke'd enough and decided to go to Mike's house for some drinking and fun. It didn't end til 6am. Of course, the best part was when we played shot chess... if you've never played it, it's just regular chess, except all the chess pieces are little shot glasses. In order to not get FUBAR, we decided to fill all the pawns with beer and only the kings and queens with tequila, and knights with vodka. The rooks and bishops were beer too. I ended up losing in a near stalemate (I only had my king left and Mike finally chased me down and cornered me with his king and queen).

It was a great time. It had been awhile since I've pulled an all-nighter and at my age now it's getting a bit harder to recover the day after... I used to be able to pull all nighters like this for weeks on end back when I was 18 and in Spain but today I pretty much slept and vegged out all day.

Ahh to be young again... last night because me, Mike, Steph, Nas, and Phil all went to the same middle school we pulled out our middle school yearbooks to laugh at our old pictures, laugh at people we hated, and reminisced on all the good times. We also ended up watching a video project we made in the 11th grade before the party ended and we all thought the same thing... damn we were skinny back then!

Ahh... memories.

Here's pics from last night:

Photography... again...

So I did a wedding today... and I realize that I need much more gear and better equipment.

For all that I've spent on it my stuff is infantile compared to the "real" stuff. I need new, fast lenses. I'm talking Canon L glass... although I can't afford it. I also need to get a flash system, like the Canon 580EX Speedlite.

Actually, I need the speedlite first, then new lenses, then a new camera.

Argh... once again, this is an expensive-ass hobby that I can't really support right now.

Bleh.

Out of the 400+ images I took today I only like about 10 of them. The others were blurry (low light) or pronounced grain (because of low light, I went ISO 1600) or blurry (see the previous two reasons) because of the weak on-board flash on the XT.

It's ok for now though... I guess.
